2026 Freeport Poetry Walk
What Holds Us Together?
The 2026 Freeport Community Poetry Competition asked poets to explore what holds us together.
The winning poems, selected by Freeport resident, poet, National Poetry Series winner and Pushcart Prize recipient Colin Cheney, are displayed along this walk throughout the month of April. A selection will be preserved in the archives of the Freeport Historical Society.
Poems explore community in any form, including but not limited to people, place, tradition, language, memory, shared struggle, shared celebration, digital belonging, chosen family and nonhuman connections such as ecosystems or objects.
A partnership of Freeport Folio and the Freeport Community Library.
